Sharon Hall British, b. 1954

Sharon Hall was born in United Kingdom in 1954. 

She studied painting at Lanchester Polytechnic, Coventry ( BA Hons Fine Art) in 1979 and the Slade School of Fine Art where she completed a Higher Diploma in Fine Art (Slade) in 1981.

. 

After finishing her studies, she lived and worked in Paris with a scholarship from the French Government and in 1991 she was awarded a Rome Scholarship at the British School at Rome, Italy. 

In 2024 Hall was the recipient of the Shelagh Cluett Trust Award which enabled her to live and work in a studio at the Alice Boner Institute in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India.

Most recently, in 2025, she has been awarded an Individual Support Grant by the Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation USA.

 

Hall has been in various exhibitions in the UK, Europe.

Recent solo exhibitions include Meeting Points Benjamin Rhodes Arts, London, 2024; Conversations in Colour il Ridotto Stanza 251 Florence Italy; Across Colour  Emma Hill Eagle Gallery London in 2021; Threeworks, Scarborough in 2019 and Colour in Place Palazzo del Podestà Pescia Italy in 2013. She will be holding a solo exhibition at Stanza 251 Florence Italy in 2025.

Hall’s works are held in collections which include Artsite, New York; Barclays Plc, London; Heathrow Airport, London; Norton Rose, London; Prudential Collection, New Jersey, USA. She has work in private collections in Europe, USA and UK.

 

Sharon Hall’s paintings are featured in Instantloveland.com 2024; Saturationpoint.org, 2024; Turps Magazine Issue 22, 2020 and the Journal of Contemporary Painting 2022. 

She is formally Head of Painting at Manchester School of Art and taught painting in various other UK art schools. 

 

Since 2004 she has maintained a studio in London UK and Tuscany Italy.
