Sharon Hall
16 x 21 cm
Sharon Hall’s paintings use reduced geometry and colour to create movement and spatial complexity. Interested in the instability and interaction of adjacent colours, she develops compositions through linear divisions and diagonal grids that can suggest shallow, illusionistic spaces, informed in part by Italian wall painting and trompe l’oeil. Working intuitively through looking, adjusting and responding to colour and space, Hall allows each painting to evolve through an open-ended dialogue with its making, often evoking place or the changing effects of light on architecture.
Sharon Hall (b. 1954, UK) studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, London, and received a French Government Scholarship in Paris and the Rome Scholarship in Painting at the British School at Rome.
