My paintings oscillate between non-representational, imagined landscapes and figurative abstraction.
Representation meets abstraction in the imagined landscapes of Aisha Bridgman’s lush acrylic paintings. Bridgman says her intention is for the viewer to escape into and explore these otherworldly landscapes, with their linear structures and off-kilter habitats.

Beginning with a coloured ground and contrasting lines of ink, images emerge as emotional responses to personal experience, memory or place as they arise.
In the new works on paper, I use a collage approach. Drawing upon an assortment of torn up paint palettes and earlier paintings on paper, detailed compositional elements have been carved out using a scalpel and a mix of media including acrylic and oil pastel to build the work.
