Rebecca Meanley commenced her PhD at Glasgow School of Art, in the School of Fine Art, in September 2022. She previously received an MA in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art in 2003, and a BA (Honours) in Fine Art from Nottingham Trent University in 1999, and she studied First Year: Painting at Glasgow School of Art (1995-6). Meanley lives and works in London and exhibits internationally; she is also Senior Lecturer in Visual Art Practice part-time at the University of Bedfordshire. Her practice is primarily painting yet drawing, printmaking, writing and the use of digital photography and video as a continual archival process are central to her practice.

She won the Drawing Bursary Residency at Brisons Veor, West Cornwall in 2020, and in 2019 Meanley exhibited at Kunstgenerator, Geneva, Switzerland and then Cross Lane Projects, Kendal, Cumbria' and in the four person painting show Rendition at The Concept Space in Bermondsey, London.

In 2018 she was selected for the group exhibition Hardest Hue to Hold curated by Aindrea Emelife, undertook an Artist Residency at Brisons Veor, West Cornwall, as well as acquiring several nominations and short-listings.

In 2017 Meanley had a successful solo show with Cadogan Contemporary, London; she was also selected for the 31 Celsius exhibition by Paul Carey-Kent at ASC Gallery, London. Her 2016 solo show When Paint Takes Over presented large-scale abstract paintings at ArtWorks Project Space, London, group shows in 2016 included Sixty at Lubomirov Angus-Hughes, London which toured to Art Athina, Athens, Rem-Brand Name at Lola Nikolaou Gallery in Thessaloniki, Greece and Small is Beautiful at Flowers New York.

In 2015 Meanley exhibited in Material Tension at the Collyer Bristow Gallery, London, curated by Day and Gluckman, Sunday in the Park with Ed curated by Cedric Christie and Pascal Roussen at the Display Gallery, London, A5 Art Athina, Athens with Lubomirov-Easton, Arte Mexico a British Art Auction in Mexico City, The Other Art Fair in London and Small Is Beautiful New York. 2014 shows include From Here & There at the Clara Hatton Gallery, Colorado USA which then toured to The Elysium Gallery in Swansea, Wales and Summer Salon at the Lion and Lamb, London which toured to The Lookout in Aldeburgh. Meanley undertook a residency in Hontianske Trstany, Slovakia, resulting in an exhibition there in September 2014. In 2013 Meanley’s work was selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition by Humphrey Ocean. Her work is held in several private collections.
