Laurence Noga
I have constructed collage/mixed media works with hidden messages or symbols that reflect A Winter’s Tale. Particularly the time and redemption in-between events in the tragedy. Thinking about these themes, the works are multi layered, using colour and surface construction, to build the complexity of the story.
Noga’s practice explores the symbolic and formal possibilities of collage, painting and assemblage, often using found objects and materials that evoke childhood memories. He is drawn to the intangible and intimate relationships between colour, geometry and surface, combining instinctive processes with the unpredictability of colour relationships.
Laurence Noga lives and works in London. He graduated from Byam Shaw, Central Saint Martins in 1991 and is an artist, curator and writer. He was shortlisted for the John Moores Painting Prize in 2018 and lectures for University of the Arts London. He is a member of the APT community of artists in South London. Recent exhibitions include Small is Beautiful at Flowers Gallery (2025, 2024), The Fold of Time at MoorHouse Gallery (2026), and exhibitions at Vivienne Roberts Projects, Tension Gallery and White Conduit Projects.
