Artworks
Mary Norden’s work is rooted in her love of vintage fabrics, whose wear, stitching, fading and stains carry stories of past lives. Beginning with a single ‘seed fabric’, she builds compositions by layering and combining cloth, often incorporating original patching, darning and seam marks. Her abstract and still-life works, as well as landscapes inspired particularly by winter, explore shape, scale and atmosphere, transforming humble, timeworn materials into quietly evocative images. Norden has exhibited widely, including solo exhibitions in London, Bath and Somerset, and two-person exhibitions at Vivienne Roberts Projects with Anna van Oosterom (2024) and sculptor Marie-Thérèse Ross (2025).
