Artworks
Pat Andrea was born in The Hague in 1942 and studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts there before travelling extensively in Spain, Greece and Latin America. Since 1975, he has exhibited internationally, with his work entering major collections worldwide. A painter and draughtsman, his practice encompasses paintings and drawings as well as large-scale wall drawings, ceramics and sculpture. A significant strand of his work began in 2003 with his engagement with Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, which led to two series of large drawings, paintings, publishing projects and a touring exhibition of the original works between 2006 and 2015. A major retrospective was held at the MORE Museum, Gorssel, in 2021, followed by a solo exhibition at Laurent Strouk, Paris, in 2023 and a presentation of drawings and paintings at Sonia Zannettacci, Geneva, in 2025. Andrea was Professor at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris from 1998 to 2007 and has been a Corresponding Member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts at the Institut de France since 2002.
