Jon Ridge is a painter born in Guildford who lives and works in London. His painted environments explore the tension between abstraction and figuration, using a graphic sensibility and reduction of form developed partly through his earlier career in graphic design and art direction. After studying at Chelsea College of Art, where he completed his studies in 2009, Ridge turned fully to painting, drawn to its possibilities for an uncompromising creative engagement. His deliberately inconclusive works offer nuances and fragments of visual information that invite the viewer’s imagination and allow for multiple readings. He has exhibited regularly in London and further afield, including a solo exhibition at Oasis Art Space, Frinton, and his work is held in private collections internationally.
