Lewis Baxter
23 x 18 cm
Lewis Baxter works mainly in painting and uses pigment, oil, acrylic, graphite, and pastel.
His paintings aim for transparency in the process of image-making. By leaving gaps between overlapping modes of drawing, resulting fragments are entangled in compositions that point to traditional sensations of depth and scale, yet are pulled back to the reality of their making through two-dimensional doodles and interventions. The paintings reflect a parsing of images and thoughts, remaining unresolved rather than communicating a continuity.
Lewis Baxter (b. 1995, England) graduated with First-Class Honours in Fine Art from London Metropolitan University in 2020, receiving the Graduate Award for Excellence in Artistic Resolution.
