Lewis' painting aims for transparency in the process of image making. Leaving gaps between overlapping modes of drawing, the fragments are entangled in grandiose compositions that point to traditional sensations of depth and scale, and are pulled back to the reality of their making with two dimensional doodles and interventions.
They relay a parsing of images and disposable graphics that has tried to prop itself up in reaching for emblematic forms and lasting significance.
