"I am interested in how we make sense of a seemingly absurd and irrational existence and explore several ideas involved in this including: The poetic, which provides space for the ‘imperfect’ and for not making sense. The outsider, as a construct. And, in the repetition of marks which act as ‘mantras’ which hold the ‘magic’ that allow us momentarily to forget our viscerality.
I let the images form, guided by my imagination and let intuition guide me as to when to add or to stop. The final pieces which evolve inhabit a space on the edge of language/reason. The images appear to be ‘shape-shifting’, maybe part human, part beast. They step out of another world, a life beyond me." Sharon Leahy-Clark
