Eugenie Vronskaya British, b. 1966

I met Eugenie Vronskaya a couple of years ago, when she arrived at Pine Plane, New York State from Russia. She had come to participate in the workshop for painters and sculptors; undoubtedly she had overcome all sorts of difficulties to get there. I was struck at that time by her strength of purpose. Since then I have followed her work and seen it change and grow. The drawing within the painting has been allowed a greater rein. England seems to suit Eugenie and I believe she will fulfil her promise. She is an artist; she has the touch, the determination and the temperament”

~ Sir Anthony Caro

Eugenie Vronskaya has lived and worked in the Highlands and London for the past 27 years.

She was born in Moscow in 1966 and studied icon painting at the Krasnopresnenskaya School of Art and The Fine Art University in Moscow before moving to the UK in 1989. In 1991 she became the first Russsian MA student at the Royal College of Art. Vronskaya was invited by Sir Anthony Caro to participate in the International Triangle Workshop in New York State and she subsequently was involved in running a number of Triangle International Workshops in Africa (Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Botswana).

The following year Vronskaya was awarded Artist in Residency at Delfina Artist Sutdios, both in London and Spain.

Her work can be found in Tate Britain, the V&A museum, Pushkin and The State Tretyakov Galery, Moscow, as well as in many private collections across the world.
