Artworks
Laura Barnard is a painter based in Wiltshire. She began her career as a map illustrator before returning to her original studies of painting and drawing. Her work explores the juxtaposition of the man-made and natural worlds, contrasting road markings, barriers, telegraph poles and pylons with expanses of hills, water and sky. Combining drawing and painting, she works with pencil, charcoal and crayon alongside ink and paint, often rubbing back the surface to create texture and depth. Her work has been exhibited widely in the UK, including at the ING Discerning Eye, Mall Galleries, London; Salisbury Museum; Victoria Art Gallery, Bath; Marlborough Open Studios; and Vivienne Roberts Projects, London.
