Simon Burton (b.1973, Doncaster) lives and works in London. His paintings explore the interplay between the visible and the unseen, layering abstract and representational elements to evoke personal and historical memory. Sensuous surfaces, remnants of painterly decisions and fragile constructions create a kind of topographical consciousness, where colour, form and texture become a language for inner experience. Burton studied at the University of Brighton and the Royal College of Art, and has exhibited extensively in the UK and internationally. His work is held in public and private collections in China, Europe, the USA and the UK.
