Cristina Ruiz Guiñazú is an Argentine painter living and working in Paris whose practice moves between realism, Pop Art, academic painting and surrealism, a style she describes as ‘minimalist realism’. Her meticulously layered acrylic paintings combine technical precision with an unsettling, dreamlike quality, creating enigmatic tableaux informed by photography, found imagery and the history of art. Drawing on personal, political and cultural references, her recent work explores philosophical and esoteric ideas, including the writings of Spinoza, alongside her longstanding interest in psychoanalysis. She studied Fine Art at the National University of Córdoba and Interior Architecture in Argentina, later working in Antonio Seguí’s Paris workshop.
