Sharon Hall (b.1954) is a British painter whose work explores the relationship between geometry, colour, space and perception. Her paintings use reduced geometric structures and linear divisions to create shifting, often shallow illusionistic spaces, informed in part by her encounters with Italian wall painting and trompe l’oeil. Working intuitively, Hall develops each painting through a process of looking, adjusting and responding to the relationships between colour, light and architecture. She studied at Lanchester Polytechnic and the Slade School of Fine Art, and was awarded a Rome Scholarship at the British School at Rome in 1991. In 2025, she was awarded an Individual Support Grant by the Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation, USA. Her work has been exhibited widely in the UK and internationally and is held in public and private collections in Britain, Europe and the USA.
