Marie Hugo was born in France and lives and works between London and France. She studied engraving and lithography at the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Montpellier from the age of sixteen, before moving to Hong Kong, where she created large-scale mural paintings for public commissions. Returning to Europe in the 1980s, she has since exhibited widely in France and internationally, including in New York, Tokyo and London. In 2007, she created a monumental installation for the Château de Haroué near Nancy, and her work is held in private collections across Europe and the United States.
