Diane Howse is a British artist and curator whose practice encompasses painting, exhibition-making and independent curatorial projects. After studying Fine Art at Banbury School of Art and Exeter College of Art, she became part of the Spacex Studios group in Exeter and was subsequently the first member of staff at Spacex Gallery. She later headed exhibition design and display at Watershed in Bristol before founding the Harewood Contemporary programme at Harewood House in 1989, establishing the Terrace Gallery as an early commitment to contemporary art within the heritage sector. In 2005 she co-founded Project Space Leeds (PSL), later The Tetley, where she developed an ongoing programme of exhibitions and projects. Howse has exhibited widely and served as a trustee or board member of organisations including The Hepworth Wakefield and Harewood House Trust. Her work is held in public and private collections including the Government Art Collection. She has exhibited with Vivienne Roberts Projects, including a solo exhibition, Ornament of Dust (2024–25), with a text by Iwona Blazwick.
