Marie-Thérèse Ross (b.1962) is a British sculptor whose work explores states of physical, emotional and psychological transformation. Combining humour with darker, subversive elements, Ross draws on personal experience to examine vulnerability, mortality, the body and the human condition. Her installations often take the domestic interior as their starting point, transforming furniture and found objects into anthropomorphic forms, while carved and painted up-cycled wood, offcuts and colour add further layers of meaning. Her sculptures move freely between wall, floor and ceiling, extending into the viewer’s physical space. A member of the Royal Society of Sculptors and winner of the Art Gemini Prize for Sculpture in 2021, Ross studied Painting at Loughborough College of Art and Design before studying sculpture at Karlsruhe Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste with Michael Sandle RA and completing an MA at the University of Pennsylvania. She has exhibited extensively in the UK and internationally and presented the two-person exhibition Ends and Odds and Fleeting Moments with Vivienne Roberts Projects in 2025.
