Artworks
Bob and Roberta Smith OBE, RA, is the pseudonym of British artist Patrick Brill (b.1963). Working primarily with text, he creates colourful paintings, banners and placards that combine humour and political engagement, championing creativity and challenging the marginalisation of art and music in education and public life. His best-known works include Make Art Not War and Letter to Michael Gove, while his wider practice encompasses painting, sculpture, music, writing and curatorial projects. He studied at the University of Reading and Goldsmiths, and was a Tate Trustee from 2009 to 2015. He is currently Professor of Fine Art at London Metropolitan University.
