Justine Formentelli was born in France in 1973 and grew up in Réunion, the Caribbean and Morocco, experiences that continue to inform her vibrant palette and intricate mark-making. After studying Illustration and Communication Design in Atlanta and working at Harper’s Bazaar, she returned to Europe and gained an MA in Fine Art with distinction from City & Guilds of London Art School in 2018. She is now based in South London. Her work has been exhibited internationally and selected for the Royal Watercolour Society Open and ING Prize, and is held in the Soho House Art Collection and private collections worldwide.
