Nick Fox (b.1972, Durban) is a British artist based in London and Newcastle, where he is Co-Head of Fine Art at Newcastle University. He studied at Liverpool John Moores University and the Royal Academy Schools. His multidisciplinary practice explores queer histories, folklore, myth, literature and personal symbolism, examining desire, intimacy and transformation through painting, drawing, photography, sculpture and installation. He has exhibited extensively in the UK and internationally, including solo exhibitions at FILET Space, London and Vane, Newcastle, and received the Jerwood Contemporary Painters Award in 2007 and the John Moores Painting Prize in 2010. His work is held in collections including the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, and the Museum of Contemporary Art, London.
