Hannah Luxton (b. 1986) studied at Kingston University and the Slade School of Fine Art, UCL, where she completed her MA in 2012. Her paintings draw on the Romantic idea of a divine presence within nature, exploring the unknown through observations of the sun, moon, stars, mountains, waterfalls and other remote landscapes. Her practice also reflects an affinity with Eastern philosophies of the Void, using bare linen and traditional painting materials to explore the relationship between the natural and the cosmic. Luxton was elected to The London Group in 2022 and is Director and curator of Glass Cloud Gallery, London. Her work has been exhibited at the Royal Academy, Brompton Cemetery Chapel, JGM Gallery and internationally in the USA, India and Iceland. She has undertaken residencies and research expeditions in Iceland, Switzerland and the United States, and her work is held in private collections in the UK and internationally.
