Carnevale in the wider sense is a brief period when social rules are suspended. The festival is symbolic of renewal when chaos has temporarily replaced the established order. All are equal and jest or the outrageous are received in good grace. Artists are at play conjuring up the fantastic and the grotesque. In the corridors of the mind's labyrinth the festivities begin.
